BOYS TRACK - Northwestern 73, Western 59

Northwestern bounced back from its earlier loss to Eastern by using its depth in getting the win over Western.

"We had a quite outstanding night from our guys," Northwestern coach Dave Stevens said. "I was really proud of them performing well, before going on spring break. Riley Hudson set a new personal best in the high jump, and Brandon Curry also set a new personal best in the high hurdles. Besides our wins, we had six second and six third places, so we held our own with the first places, but the guys snuck in there to get the points to win the meet. We had a lot of improvement from our meet with Eastern on Tuesday."

Cameron Oden led Northwestern as a triple winner. Brandon Curry, James Schulte and Nick Perry were double winners.

Oden was tops in the 100 dash (11.5) and 200 dash (24.1). Brandon Curry won in the 100-meter hurdles (17.2), and Schulte came in first in the 400 run (53.5).

Brandon Curry, Perry, Oden and Kyle Smith all joined forces in winning the 400 relay (46.9). Perry and Schulte teamed up with Keegan Fessenden and Alec Gale in winning the 1,600 relay (3:49.5).

In the field events, Weston Cockrell won the shot put (45-3.75). Raymond Monroe was tops in the discus (125-7.5). Riley Hudson had the top height in the high jump (5-8), and Darren Curry was the top pole vaulter with a height of 9-6.

Matt Grider led Western as a triple winner, and Braedon Cannon and Jake Bradshaw were double winners. Grider won in the 1,600-meter run (4:48) and 3,200 run (10:31.7). Cannon I was tops in the 300 hurdles (47.5) and long jump (17-7). Bradshaw took first in the 800 run (2:11.4). Grider and Bradshaw teamed up with Austin Elliott and Auston Davenport in' winning the 3,200 relay (8:54.6).

This was the third meet for Western, and coach Marvin Boswell is seeing his team come together.

"It was an excellent meet," Boswell said. "We got to see a lot of athletes run, and we are • seeing our team come together, finding all the pieces of the puzzle, and as the season progresses, we will be just fine."


GIRLS TRACK - Northwestern 86, Western 46

The Purple Tigers enjoyed a strong outing on the Panther track. Kylie Ballard won the high jump (5-4), with sister Hannah : Ballard, and Tearston Munson finishing off a 1-2-3 Northwestern sweep. Amber Miller won long jump with a personal best 16-0 and won the 100 (13.4). Taryn Thor won the 400 (1:05). Tianna Oden won the 300 hurdles (55.0). Munson won the 200 (27.5). Britanny Jocius won the 3,200 (14:04).

Thor, Megan Bunch, Rachel Johns and Jocius won the 3.20G (11:04). Oden, Miller, Kylie Ballard and Munson won the 400 relay (52.2). Munson, Thor, Oden and .' Elise Cobb won the 1,600 (4:35). "It was a very good meet and the girls are looking really good, getting strong," NW coach Mary Clem said. "Spring Break didn't affect their brains [Thursday] night. That was a good thing."

Western's Corinna Cottingham won the 100 hurdles (18.9) and the pole vault (8-6). Kaily Tanner swept the throws. She won the shot (35-9) and discus (106-3). Emma Nixon won the 1,600 (6:15). Amanda Seaman won the 800 (2:46.3).
