BOYS TRACK - Western 99, Cass 33

The Panthers took home top honors in 10 events.

Matt Riley was a triple winner, pacing the field in the 200 in 23 seconds and leading the way in a pair of relay victories.

Riley, Jacob Hopkins, Lucas Luckey, and Andrew Rodgers won the 1,600 relay in 3:40, while Indy Mathew James Davis, and Garrett Welker teamed with Riley for a win in the 400 relay (:45.3).

Mathew was also a double individual winner in the 300 hur­dles (:42.1) and long jump (19-5 3/4), while Welker won the 100 (:11.3) and Rodgers took home blue in the 400 (:54.3).

Aaron VariAuken was also a double winner in the 110 hurdles (:15.6) and the high jump (5-9), and Ben Bradshaw (1,600, 5:17), Chris Love (800, 2:08) and Jeff Stout (pole vault, 12-0) rounded out the winners in a dominant day for the Panthers.

For Cass, Jake Rouch won the discus with a heave to 143-2, and backed that up with a top showing in the shot put (48-6).

Nate Wilson was a winner in the 3,200 in 10:51, and teamed with Matt Lane, Chris Laudenschlager and Josh Head to win the 3,200 relay in 9:20.


GIRLS TRACK - Western 46, Cass 79

The Kings ran very strong in winning 11 events, against a very strong Western team.

"In the past, they beat us up a little bit," Cass coach Grace Scott said. "It was a great win for us."

Emily Beckley and Ashley Baber led Cass as a triple win­ners. Beckley won in the high jump (5-0) and 100 (:13.1). Baber was tops in the 3,200 (12:52) and 1,600 (5:56).

Emily Robertson and Katlyn Johnson were double winners for the Kings. Robertson took first in the 800 run (2:36), and Johnson won the long jump (16-0).

Beckley and Johnson joined Mariah Schwartz and Taylor Miller in winning the 400 relay (:53.0), and Baber and Emily Robertson teamed up with Bre-anne Robertson and Jade Sarver in winning the 3,200 relay (10:54).

Cass' Kassy Sprinkle won the shot put (36-1). Rhiannon Sanders took first in discus (104-4), and Kelsey Thieke took first in the 100 hurdles (:17.6).

Western was led by Allison Everetts, who teamed with Taylor Young, Jennifer Dale and Corian-na Meyer to win the 1,600 relay (4:27.6), after winning the 400 in 1:03.

Dale took top honors in the 200 (:28.2) and Natylee Nation (:53.3) and Corinna Cottingham (pole vault, 8-6) rounded out the Panther victors.
