BOYS TRACK - Western 95, Northwestern 37 The Panthers showed how deep they are in personnel as both teams claimed several wins but Western pulled away with depth to win the meet. Western had 10 blues to Tipton's six. "Behind each of those six wins by Tipton, we got second and third place," Western coach Marvin Boswell said. "Our depth is the main thing that help us." Jerel Hall and Zac Martinez led the Panther pack with triple wins. Hall won in the 100-meter dash (11.2) and 200 dash (23.4). Martinez was tops in the 1,600 run (5:11) and 800 run (2:08). Hall was joined by Daltton Head, Lucas Luckey and Chris Harter in winning the 1,600 relay (3:41). Martinez teamed with John Capps, Chris Love and Kody Harmon in winning the 3,200 relay (9:07). Capps and Luckey were double winners. Capps also won in the 3,200 run (11:19), and Luckey joined Jake Askren, Trent Lawlyes and Indy Mathew in winning the 400 relay (:45.6). The Panthers' Dean Shepherd was tops in the pole vault (13-0) and Trevor Buckalew came out on top in the discus (130-5). GIRLS TRACK - Western 99, Tipton 33 Cara Earlywine was a dominant force for Western as she won four events. Earlywine was tops in the 100 dash (13.0) and 200 dash (27.9). Nikki McCracken, Taylor Young and Alleca Kerker joined Earlywine in winning the 400 relay (53.7), and Earlywine teamed with Sable Staller, Sidricka Harris and Allison Everetts in winning the 1,600 relay (4:32). McCracken ended up being a triple winner. McCracken won in the 100 hurdles (16.6) and pole vault (9-0). "McCracken is starting out a lot better in the pole vault," Western coach Marvin Boswell said. "In the last two meets, she has had distances of 9-6, 9-0. She also has been running the events better. Earlywine ran well. She came out and showed what she is capable of winning. As she continues to come back, she will continue to dominate." Staller, Everetts and Corianne Myer were double winners. Everetts was tops in the long jump (13-11).
