Western 100, Cass 32

The Panthers took home 15 of the 16 first places in their meet against the Kings.

Kyle Brown and Kyle Young led the Panthers. Brown won the 100-meter dash (:11.8), 400 dash (:52.9) and long jump (18 feet, 1.5 inches). Young was tops in the 800 run (2:07.8) and high jump (5-10).

"Brown had an excellent night. He is really strong in the sprint events," Western coach Marvin Boswell said. "Young ran his best race in the 800, and that was a personal recrod for him. He is getting stronger and stronger in each meet."

Other individual winners for Western were Alex Sigler (200 dash, :23.8); Patrick Lennon (110 hurdles, :16.7); Austin Young (3,200 run, 10:42.2); Trevor Buckalew (shot put, 403); Bart Shepherd (discus, 128-9) and Chris Harter (pole vault, 12-6).

In the relays, Kody Harmon, Evan Briscoe, Kyle Young and Chris Love won the 3,200 in 9:18.2; Lennon, Ryan Elmore, Indy Mathew and Christoffer Kun won the 400 in :46.3; and Sigler, Brad DiCarlo, Kyle Young and Brown won the 1,600 in 3:38.

Western 97, Cass 34

Cara Earlywine, Nikki McCracken, Sable Staller and Lizzi Chandler each won two individual events to highlight the Panthers' win.

Earlywine won the 100-meter dash (:13.4) and 200 dash (:27.7), McCracken won the 100 hurdles (:17.2) and pole vault (8-6), Staller took firsts in the 400 dash (1:06) and high jump (5-2) and Chandler won the discus (92-2) and shot put (37-10).

Other individual winners for Western were Alleca Kerker (300 hurdles, :53.4) and Jenn Elliott (800 run, 2:46).

"We had good performances from Earlywine, who is our top sprinter," Western coach Marvin Boswell said. "I was also pleased with Kurker. She ran the 300 hurdles for the first time, and she ended up winning. it. She was a big help there.

"Chandler had a personal record in the shot put," Boswell added. "McCracken had an excellent job in hurdles and pole vault. Overall, I was pleased with the girls effort."

The Panthers swept the relays. Corianne Myer, Ashley Gaskins, Lacey Myer and Elliott won the 3,200 in 11:14.2; Danae Rittmann, Jennifer Dale, Earlywine and Kerker won the 400 in :52.4 and Maggie Talbert, Dale, Early-wine and Kerker won the 1,600 in 4:27.0.
