The Panthers turned in a dominant performance to run their record to 13-0. Indiana State recruit Kyle Walsh finished as a triple winner, and the Panthers also received strong showings from Jon Brittain, Jayson Frazier, Kyle Irwin, Jim Jackson and Tommy Jenkins.

"We had great [weather] conditions, and a fun Friday evening," Western coach Dana Neer said, noting Cass and Western also ran a junior high meet. "With all the athletes combined, we had 250 kids out there. It made for a very lively and entertaining night."

"I was really impressed with our 1,600 meter runners with Walsh running a 4:37, Jackson a 4:42 and freshman Luke Minor running a personal best 4:56. That was his first time under 5:00," Neer added. "Michael Marley was able to run his personal best in the 3,200 meters, and Jacob McDorman had a personal best in the shot put at 45 feet, 8 inches. Jonathan Brittain had his usual strong showings [in the shot put and discus]; he had a person best in the discus at 130 feet, 9 inches."
